Quality, Community & Exploration
Located in the Green Gables neighborhood of Phoenix, the property we now call home at Wren House sat unoccupied and disused for decades. We fell in love with its character, rebuilt the old guest house and garage in the backyard into our brewhouse, and converted the main 1920s bungalow house into our cozy taproom.
In the brewhouse, we focus on quality and explore a wide range of brewing techniques and styles. Led by head brewer Preston Thoeny, our brewers integrate international beer styles with Arizona character to craft beers that satiate and challenge the senses.
We believe in the power of craft beer to bring people together, and our taproom reflects this - we offer a simple space with music but no TV to gather with friends or meet a new neighbor over a beer. While we focus on the beer we encourage you to bring in take-out or have food delivered if you would like to pair a meal with our offerings.
CURRENTLY ON TAP
We took some 15 month old Pie Thief that was resting in wheat whiskey barrels and blended that with some newer 6 month old Pie Thief that had been hanging out in some very high quality bourbon barrels. We then finished the beer on several pounds of vanilla beans inside the barrels. The flavors coming out of this are insane... reminiscent of homemade pumpkin pie topped with melted vanilla ice cream, with a nice sip of whiskey in between bites
This beer is immediately one of our favorites. Floor malted German Pilsner malt and German Wheat hopped delicately with Mandarina Bavaria. The nose is full of fresh baked sourdough bread with a lingering lemon curd. The taste greets you with dried apricots, lemon peel, clove and white pepper.
a double dry hopped hazy version of our classic ginger pale ale. We implemented a much softer ginger profile by conditioning the beer on fresh pressed ginger juice and lactose. Hopped with Citra, Mt Hood, Columbus, and Mandarina Bavaria. gingery, citrusy, and slightly sweet.
A pure imperial porter with no adjuncts. Subtle notes of currant and chocolate on the nose with a big coffee and chocolate body.
Brewed with naturally dried Ethiopian coffee beans locally roasted by Press Coffee and blended with Press Coffee cold brew. Oatmeal, malt, and coffee blend together in this smooth and rich stout.
6.9% ABV | 25 IBU
Bursting with 2 pounds per barrel of American Hops, Wrenovation is loaded with notes of citrus and refined spice. While we continuously experiment with new rotating IPA recipes, this is our steadfast, "unfiltered" version of a West Coast style IPA.
7.5% ABV | 80 IBU
Modeled after some mass produced lagers from our neighbors to the south, we add hand-picked North American wild rice to introduce a layer of nuttiness to this otherwise light and refreshing lager.
4.5% ABV | 37 IBU

Wren House is a proud participant of the Arizona Pure Water Brew Challenge created by Pima County's Southwest Water Campus. This innovative project helps us all become more comfortable with the amazing technologies that enable recycled water reuse in drinking water applications and ensure a sustainable water supply for the arid southwest. We brewed "Hydrologic Pale Ale" as tribute to this cause and entered into the competition. Come try it while it lasts in the taproom!
Wren House is proud to be a member of Audubon Arizona's Western Rivers Action Network. Growing our craft in the desert southwest relies on long term sustainable management of our rivers, and WRAN is committed to making this happen. Please join us in taking action on this issue by signing the Petition for Healthier Arizona Rivers
